Omaha Moms Blog:: Introducing Danielle

Omaha

Hello, hello! My name is Danielle. I was born and raised here in Omaha. I grew up in a family of six kids: my mom being from a family of ten and my dad being from a family of eight. After high school, I attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on a volleyball scholarship. After winning the National championship the fall of 2006, I graduated with a Communication Studies degree May of 2007. I then spent the next couple years playing professional volleyball overseas. As much as I love to travel, I love coming home to the “good life.”

In a series of unfortunate events, my husband and I met during my fourth season overseas. How fortunate these unfortunate events turned out to be! We met and just two months later I knew he was ‘the one!’ We have now been married seven years. Life has moved fast for us and we have been through many transitions in such a short amount of time. We’ve lived in Virginia and California, but nothing compares to living back home in Nebraska. We have added five heartbeats to our family. We have four boys and one girl; ages 4, 3, 2, 1, and 4 months. Being a wife and mother is a continual self-mortification process. The less of ‘me’ the better off my family will be. We never dreamed of life looking this way, but I consider each one of our children a treasured gift. The best way to describe being a mother to five children ages four to four months would be this, “I manage bear cubs all day long. All they want to do is eat and wrestle.”

Blog

I am honored to join the Omaha Mom Blog as a contributor. What a joy for me to join this beautiful community. I am excited for the challenge ahead. I don’t get to compete much as an athlete anymore so I have to find ways to compete against myself. Although I am a huge advocate for keeping a journal, blogging is something new to me. I’m eager to transparently share with you the ins and outs, ups and downs, of our daily lives… and hopefully have you laughing along the way too.
