Hitchcock Nature Center

Lauritzen Gardens

Stroll around the beautiful Botanical Gardens with paved walking paths. If you have a library card for Omaha Public Library or Council Bluffs Library you can check out a free pass. 

Mahoney State Park

Park Entry Permit required
Take scenic drives through the park, follow hiking and biking trails, and climb the observation tower.

Platte River State Park

Loess Hills National Scenic Byway

This scenic drive run for 200 miles long from north of Sioux City, Iowa, to near St. Joseph, Missouri. Make it a mini getaway and stay at cabin. Or drive through Preparation Canyon in Moorhead, Iowa. Stop at Small’s Fruit Farm for fresh apples and cider.
