Best Sledding In & Around Omaha

Best Sledding Omaha

Who else is excited for the first big snowfall of the year? If you ever knew the joy of sledding as a child, you’ll understand my excitement for getting out now that I have a family of my own to share the experience with.

Since we are from central Nebraska, we were unfamiliar with the best places to sled here in Omaha. So I did what we all do when we need information—browsed the internet, specifically Facebook groups, and accumulated a seemingly never-ending list of all the recommended go-to places to find the perfect hill. I couldn’t go without sharing it with you too!

Before you seek out the powdery adventure nearest you, please remember the importance of safety while sledding. Between bumps, bruises, and injuries more serious like broken bones and concussions, sledding causes an average of 20,000 hospital visits a year. So be safe, but go out and have a blast!

Brittanee Guenin
Brittanee was born in Denver, CO and moved to North Platte, NE when she was seven. She has been married to her high school sweetheart since 2013 and after graduating from UNK in 2014 she moved to Washington where her husband was stationed with the Navy. There, they would have their first daughter before moving to South Carolina where their second daughter would be born. In May of 2020 after her husband's contract with the Navy was up, her and her family happily moved back to their home state and made roots in Omaha where they couldn't be more grateful to be. Brittanee enjoys all things family, reading, spending time outdoors, working with kids, being artsy fartsy, and is honored with the privilege to write for Omaha Mom. She's always down for lazy days on the couch watching movies or binging a good show.

  1. Is there a kind of sled that’s best for sledding with young grandchildren? There’s so many to choose from now, it’s confusing.
