Free Outdoor Summer Family Movies OmahaWe love a good outdoor family movie night! This summer, outdoor movies at the park returns, and we are sharing for Omaha area families! This is a great way to get outdoors to enjoy all that our city has to offer. Simply pack a lawn chair, snacks, blankets, and enjoy the shows!

Free Outdoor Summer Family Movie Nights In & Around Omaha | 2023

Papillion Starlight Movie Series

Enjoy a FREE family movie night at the SumTur Ampitheatre! Gates open at 8:00 pm. The concession stand will be selling beverages and popcorn. Outside food and beverages can be brought in for this event. Showing in 2023:

May 27th: Light Year
June 10th: Puss & Boots
June 17th: Minions
June 24th: Marcel
August 5th: Turning Red

Elkhorn Flix at the Chef

Not quite yet updated for 2023, the Flix at the Chef is put on by Relevant Community Chef and offers FREE outdoor movies behind Dairy Chef in Elkhorn! Movies begin at dusk, and be sure to bring blankets or chairs to sit on. Food, drinks, and ice cream is for sale at Dairy Chef!

La Vista Moonlight Movies 

Every second Friday of June, July, & August at dusk, the Moonlight Movie Series offers free movies on the big screen. Blankets, chairs, and picnics are encouraged.

Family Movie Night at Shadow Lake Towne Center 

Thursday July 13 | 9pm | Shadow Lake Ampitheater

Wear your pajamas and bring your sleeping bags while you enjoy a free movie on at the Amphitheatre! Movie TBD.

Gretna Days Free Night at the Movies

Friday July 28th | Gates Open 7pm | Gretna High School

Enjoy a free movie night at the Gretna High School Football Stadium. Concessions will be available for purchase with seating available in the stadium seats and also on the field (bring your blankets for the field – lawn chairs not allowed). Food and drink other than water will not be allowed on the field.

Movie Nights in Council Bluffs

Friday, August 5 – Sunset Park
Disney’s The Game Plan (PG)
Activities begin at 7PM and movie begins at dusk (approximately 8:30PM).

Wear your favorite jersey or tutu and take your picture with the IWCC football team or members of the American Midwest Ballet. You’ll also have a chance to test your skills with a football throwing contest at the “Rec on the Move” truck, with Council Bluffs Parks and Rec.

Friday, September 23 – Roberts Park
Jungle Cruise (PG-13)
Activities start at 6PM and movie begins at dusk (approximately 7:30PM)

Head to Roberts Park before the movie for a scavenger hunt, Flora and Fauna botany education provided by Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo, prizes and more! Bring your favorite stuffed animal to enjoy the show and receive a jungle tattoo. Wildlife Encounters will also be onsite with some critters for you to meet.
