Christmas is coming early to Omaha! The U.S. Capitol Christmas tree will be at the Gene Leahy Mall on the 11th Street Promenade on November 13 from 5 pm to 7 pm as it makes its way across the country to Washington D.C.
Omaha was chosen as a host for the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree this year.
Every year a different National Forest provides a tree for the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol for the holiday season. This year the tree is a 74-foot Sitka Spruce, taking a 4,000-mile journey from Wrangell, Alaska, to the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol building!
Take your family to the Riverfront’s Gene Leahy Mall to see the tree on the 11th Street Promenade on Wednesday November 13 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Families are invited to enjoy live music, food trucks, opportunities for photos, along with an appearance from Smokey the Bear. We will update with more details as they are available.
