Dr. Seuss was born on March 2, 1904 and what better way to celebrate all things Seuss than by reading all day and eating fun, whimsical Seussian meals!!
Breakfast for All the Whos
We usually start the day off with something super easy like Cat in the Hat hat stacks and Green Eggs! I take a few small powdered donuts and slice a banana and a few strawberries and then stack them to look just like the Cat in the Hat’s famous striped hat! It’s also super easy to scramble up some eggs and add a touch of green food coloring and then add in pieces of ham to the scramble. One year, I got super creative and dyed our ham green. It wasn’t appetizing to look at–I don’t recommend it haha!
Lunch’s Hunches
My favorite thing to do is make a Lorax sandwich! It’s easy to pack for school or to serve at home!
- Make your kiddo’s favorite sandwich and then use a cookie cutter to cut it into a circle.
- Cut a slice of cheddar cheese into a circle with the same cutter and layer it on top of the sandwich and then add a provolone mustache and the edible eyes (from the cake decorating section).
I also like to add Truffula Trees with some cotton candy and pretzel sticks!
Rare Who Roast-Beast
Basically any meat can be roast best with enough imagination! This year, I plan on making an actual roast with potatoes for our Seuss dinner!
Snack Attack
Some of my favorite Seussical snacks are also pretty easy to make:
Mozzarella string cheese made to look like the Cat in the Hat with some Sharpie magic.
1 Fish, 2 Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish (Goldfish Crackers with Swedish Fish mixed in)
My kiddos are growing fast and I know some day they’ll think my themed meals are a bit dorky, but for now, I’m embracing the fun!
How did it get so late so soon? It’s night before it’s afternoon. December is here before it’s June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?
