Football is synonymous with fall in Nebraska. Whether or not you’re a Husker fan, it’s hard to escape game-day excitement!
If your kids love watching football and cheering on their favorite team, they will love learning more about the sport and playing on a team! Flag football and youth football is gaining popularity for families across the country for a reason. It’s a collaborative team sport that teaches kids the importance of teamwork, dedication, and hard work.
5 Reasons Football Is a Great Sport for Kids
1. Flag football is safe and fun.
If your kids love football and are interested in playing, flag football is a great way for them to learn the fundamentals of the game. It is safe and non-contact, with a focus on learning about the sport and having fun. Sign your kids up to play!
2. Football teaches sportsmanship.
Learning how to be a good sport is a lesson that carries into all areas of life. I want my kids to know that whether they win or lose, they should always be gracious and respectful. On the field, they might now always win, but they can have a good attitude no matter what.
3. Football teaches values and hard work.
Team sports are a great way for kids to be active and understand the importance of working together for a shared goal. Playing football is a great way for kids to learn discipline and teamwork.
4 Flag football is all-inclusive.
Think only boys play football? Think again! Flag football is a great option for both girls and boys. It is no-contact and there are no height or weight restrictions, so anyone can play.
5. Football builds community.
As a mom, it is important to me that my kids understand the value of community. Coming together as a family to cheer on a sibling as they play flag football is a great way to encourage this. I love that we get to know more families in our neighborhood and school through the local leagues. Flag football is a family-friendly event that everyone can take part in! While one of my kids plays, their siblings can watch and cheer on the sidelines and celebrate the team’s accomplishments.
