Escape the cold and wander through the indoor gardens including both tropical and temperate plants as well as a 10-foot waterfall. The Washed Ashore exhibit has giant sculptures made from marine debris.

Spring is a great time to visit the indoor exhibits at the zoo, like the desert dome, the aquarium, and the butterfly and insect pavilion.

History comes alive at The Durham Museum, located in Union Station. See how Omaha and Nebraska have grown and changed through the decades. Stroll through train cars from the ’40s and ’50s. Don’t miss the Hall of Heroes and The Lunchbox: Packed with Pop Culture special exhibits.

If the weather cooperates, there are tons of great hiking trails to explore around Omaha. Pack a picnic and make a day of it!

Want to get away for a quick day trip? Visit a state park (Indian Cave and Fort Robinson are two of our favorites), spend an afternoon at Morrill Hall the University of Nebraska State Museum in Lincoln, or check out the Strategic Air Command and Aerospace Museum in Ashland.

Do a taste test of several local donut shops and rank them. Here’s a guide to our favorite donut shops to get you started.

Visit your local library and go to storytime, try an escape room, and do other special activities.
