It’s always a great time to clean out closets and get rid of clothes, toys, and accessories you don’t use anymore. If you have piles of things to donate, consider these alternative options to Goodwill or Salvation Army.

Accepts donations of new and gently used items. See their list of current needs here.

Lydia House Clothing Closet

2828 N 23rd St E Omaha

Items go directly to adults experiencing homelessness in Omaha.

Lutheran Family Services

Accepts gently used household goods and furniture. Does NOT accept clothing items. Check the website for more details.

Olive Crest Omaha Missions

7180 N 60th St Omaha

Accepts donations of clean, good-quality clothing and home goods to be sold in God’s Closet & Attic. All funds raised go back into the community to support local Outreach Organizations.

Hand Me Ups Thrift Store

15663 Spaulding St Omaha

Donations support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and help the environment.

Habitat for Humanity ReStore

2 locations: 10910 Emmet St. Omaha and 1003 S 24th St. Omaha

They accept drop-off donations and also offer pick-up for larger items.

If you’re looking for other options of what to do with items you no longer use you can post them in local “buy nothing” groups on Facebook or try consigning.
